React Portfolio

Expanding My Knowledge

I wanted to create something new, something to show. My old portfolio aged out and was created with WordPress and some custom code, so it wasn't anything special. I wanted to stand out. My fully custom and made by me portfolio. I've used React before, but not like this. There was a lot of learning done here.

Grails 5 Upgrade

Tackling Tech Debt

I lead and helped alongside my Nebraska Courts developer team to upgrade one of our legacy Grails 2 appications to Grails 5 to meet security standards. We were the first to tackle a Grails 2 to 5 upgrade which we had a steep learning curve. We shared our experience and knowledge with other teams.

Building New Features

I developed a new feature to be able to view Courts images and documents when using their search application. Files are retrieved from a JUSTICE database and filtered through business logic to ensure they are not confidential and the user has proper authority to view them to avoid URL manipulation to get free courts documents.

Creating New Solutions

I created the company's first dark mode site to meet the Culture Committee's need to capture their monthly featured employee process. The site was developed to invite employees via email to answer questions, upload images, and allowed admin to view employee profiles, add/remove questions, mark an employee as featured, and download the autofilled newsletter ready to be shared with the company. This site caught international attention across the company!

Developing My Skills

I remember being in college and wanting to do something with code. I did the assignments, but I wasn't satisfied. I was eager to see what I could do with technology and my coding skills. I created my own Snake Game using Python. I did this because I wanted to learn Python at the time and looked into PyGames.
